Rules

Darling Downs Fur Meet (DDFM) is a group of like-minded individuals and is not an organization. Therefore we carry no liability or insurance, and all members are responsible for their own actions. Please remember that all admins are just volunteers. We volunteer our time so that the furry fandom here in Darling Downs Region can have a meet up to suit, share art and generally have a good time. Most of us work, have other commitments, etc, and it's our only time that we can get together to enjoy our fandom.

Park & Venue Meet Rules:

  • Be considerate:

  • If you feel that you cannot participate in the group in a mature manner, or all you have to offer are horrible attempts to try and seek attention, you will not be welcomed.

  • Talk to an Admin:

  • If you have any concerns of safety or anything please contact one of the admins and let them know what they are. We are happy to help.

  • Respect The Public:

  • Don’t approach or interact with people who clearly don’t want to interact with us. Any behavior in public or interactions will reflect on their perception of the fandom.

  • Ages Restrictions:

  • As we are a family friendly meet all ages are welcome to attend. If you're under age of 16 we request you have an adult over age of 21 with them to attend the meet. Any young children are allowed at the meet long as they are under the supervision of their caregivers and their behavior is appropriate at all times.

  • Appropriate attire:

  • Because we are a family friendly group (PG) as a rule, no “anatomically correct” costumes to be brought and, leashes, and sled-dog like harnesses may only be worn with species that would wear them on their irl counterparts. Due to the nature of the public it is safer this way so we only leave good impressions on them

  • Appropriate conversation, swearing & volume:

  • Please be aware when at the meet you are a representative of the group and that all conversation/actions should be appropriate for the place and time (any adult or illegal themes, etc are not to be discussed at our meets). Also please be socially aware and culturally conscious of how your actions / loud conversations could be perceived and reflected upon the group and fandom as a whole.

  • Bringing Friends:

  • If you are bringing friends from outside of the community, they will need to still abide by our rules at our meets. Their behavior will reflect on you.

  • Don't attend if you're sick:

  • We all like to stay healthy and happy so please don’t attend if you're unwell so we don’t spread it.

  • Valuables:

  • Due to areas we visit and the number of you that attend we cannot keep an eye on all your gear. Please keep your valuables safe and be accountable for your own gear.

  • Rubbish:

  • Please take any and all rubbish with you and dispose of it in bins correctly. We want to respect the areas we go to and be welcome back to them.

  • No Smoking:

  • Due to being an all age meetup, we ask that you do not smoke or vape at the meet. If you wish to please do it away from the meet and follow the regulations of the area we are in with smoking or vaping.

  • Alcohol Policy

  • Regarding meets in unlicensed public spaces (Park Meets, etc), alcohol must not be consumed, as this is prohibited under Queensland law. When meets are held at licensed venues, you are welcome to purchase a drink, however, please drink responsibly. Excessive intoxication will not be tolerated, anyone who becomes too intoxicated may be asked to leave. Such behavior may also affect your ability to attend future meets.

  • Costumes are not Consent:

  • Please keep your hands to yourself and ask permission for hugs, boops, pets, photos, etc.

Bowling:

  • 💳 Once you have arrived make sure to let an admin know so we can tick you off our list and make sure you’re all paid up to bowl.

  • 👟 If you're not wearing fursuit foot paws, please collect bowling shoes to wear from the front desk.

  • 🍾 Open drinks are to be kept on the tables to protect against spills on fursuits. Please be careful near tables to make sure not to bump or spill drinks.

  • 🍽️ We know you love to be all fluffy but please don’t carry food or drink back from the cafe while wearing your fursuit. We would hate for anything to be spilled on your suit or others as well as any breakages.

  • 🗑️ Please tidy up your rubbish, including returning plates after eating. Clean tables means more room and less accidents with fursuits.

  • 🧳 Once suited up, please zip up your suit case and move it to the sides to allow space for others.

  • 🎳 Once games have finished in your lane please return bowling balls back to their homes, and bowling shoes into the return shoes buckets.

Weapons:

  • Safe Props Only:

  • Please don’t bring props that could hurt others or damage suits, e.g. sharp edges. Don’t hit others with your props

  • No Gun Lookalike Props:

  • As we are in public for meets, public fear and safety concerns will be raised with certain types of props such as swords or guns. If you're wearing a costume that is accompanied with said props such as armor suit, dress-ups styling, etc then that may be ok to bring. Weapon props are subject to admin approval prior to bringing to a meet.

  • Anything that could be perceived as a real weapon is not allowed example knives disguised as combs

Photography Rules & Etiquette

  • Permission Is Essential:

  • Always ask for consent before taking photos, especially if someone is the main focus.

  • “No” Means No:

  • If anyone says they do not want to be photographed, stop immediately.

  • Respect Privacy:

  • Even in public places, honor requests from anyone who is uncomfortable being photographed.

  • Get Permission to Share:

  • Ask the original photographer before downloading, reposting, or sharing their images.

  • Never Alter Images:

  • Do not crop, edit, remove watermarks, or apply filters without explicit permission from the photographer.

  • Give Proper Credit:

  • Always credit the photographer when sharing their work unless they've said otherwise.

  • Honor “No Share” Requests:

  • Respect anyone who says they don't want their photo shared under any circumstances.

  • Be Polite and Respectful:

  • Courtesy and clear communication help build trust and maintain a positive group environment.

Fursuit Etiquette

  • If you see a fursuit unattended please do not touch it no matter how tempting.

  • Never try someone’s fursuit on without asking, that includes if they ask you to hold it. That is not an invitation to try it on.

  • NEVER sneak up behind (or even to the side) of a fursuiter, they have bad or no peripheral vision, and this can be very startling and unnerving.

  • Let the public approach you, it is not okay to run up to people. A fursuit can be scary to some people, you don’t know their life story or why they may be hesitant to approach. You can wave and make yourself known, then let them come to you, if they don’t then that’s fine and can continue on in your way.

  • If possible, it is advised that you have someone (Fursuit handler) with you out of suit that knows you and can assist if you have a loss of visibility or feel unwell.

  • COSTUMES ARE NOT CONSENT, please keep your hands to yourself and ask permission for hugs, boops, pets, photos, air cooling, etc.

Pets

  • While attending DDFM, DDFM takes no responsibility for any pets brought to meets; accordingly, any damages caused by pets are the sole responsibility/liability of owners/carers. The owner of any property damaged is within their legal rights to press charges for any damages to property by pets brought to meets.

  • Pets, Owners/Carers must follow all Toowoomba council regulations as what is stated on their website: Animal Regulations Please Click Here

  • Any animal faeces must be dealt with as soon as notified. Failure to clean up faeces could result in DDFM preventing further attendance of said animal

  • In the event of an animal attacking anyone, meet attendee or not, the attack must be reported to the Toowoomba council on 131 872, with details of the owner provided. Refusing to provide details will result in police involvement/intervention. The Toowoomba council will determine further action, if required.
